The UPLB Department of Electrical got another 100% passing rate in the recently concluded licensure examination for Registered Electrical Engineers. Thirty-six graduates took the Electrical Engineering Board Examination with three landing in the top ten namely Engr. Kristian Gil Tagomata (top 7), Engr. Robert Kendall Inocencio (top 8), and Engr. Mark Gerald Cuadra (top 9). The exam was given by the Professional Regulation Commission last April 10-11, 2016. The national passing rate is 41.29%.
A group of UPLB Electrical Engineering students participated the 12th Sweep Awards organized by Smart Communications last October 2015. The team was composed of Charles Carandang, Zuriel Jacosalem, Lucky Angelo Nagpala and Richard Drix Piatos with their instructor-in-charge Engr. Melvin C. Ilang-Ilang. The team, with an entry name “Tethernet” was one of the 10 finalists on the said event. Awarding ceremony on the 12th Sweep Awards was held last February 10 to 11, 2016 at the Green Sun Hotel, Makati City.
A group of UPLB Electrical Engineering students was chosen as one of the 10 finalists for the 12th SWEEP (Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program) Innovation and Excellence Awards organized by Smart Communications. The team is composed of Charles Carandang, Zuriel Jacosalem, Lucky Angelico Nagpala, and Richard Drix Piatos. They are being advised by DEE Faculty Engr. Melvin Ilang-Ilang. In accordance with the competition theme "Enabling Lives Through Mobile and Digital Innovations", the group submitted a proposal on mobile internet sharing facilitated through smartphones and kiosks which they coined as TetherNet. A boot camp will be held on November 19-20, 2015 which aims to help the qualified teams to fine-tune their concepts. The final judging will be held on February 10, 2016.
