First and LongEEst

First travel, longest train ride, first big achievement. Most people will agree that these first and longest moments in their life are memorable. Even in the DEE, we agree that these first and longest are surely memorable.

When the department was established in 1997, Assoc. Prof. Maximino G. Villanueva became the first department chairperson. When Assoc. Prof. Villanueva’s term ended on July 31, 2000, four more faculty members led the department. They are:

Asst. Prof. Edvino G. Eusebio (1 August 2000 – 12 April 2007)
Asst. Prof. Roderick L. Catriz (13 April 2007 – 14 April 2015, 3 June 2021 – Present)
Asst. Prof. Annie Liza C. Pintor (15 April 2015 – 31 May 2016, 20 July 2019 – 2 June 2021)
Asst. Prof. Karen-Christian C. Agno (1 June 2016 – 19 July 2019)

Among all the department chairs, one of them belongs to the first batch of BS Electrical Engineering graduates of the department. He is none other than the DEE’s current department chair, Asst. Prof. Roderick L. Catriz. Aside from being a part of the first batch of graduates, he also holds the longest term as a department chair, which is 8 years and counting (WOW!). Surely, we now know that he holds a lot of memories about the department both as a student and as a part of the faculty. Now, he continues to make new memories as he serves again as the department chair. So, do you think you know DEE better than Sir Eric? | Kyrstynne Ureta, 15 Sept 2021
