UPLB DEE explores Possible Collaboration with DOST-ASTI
UPLB DEE, represented by its department chair, Asst. Prof. Roderick Catriz had a virtual meeting with the Computer Software Division (CSD) of the Department of Science and Technology – Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) last 22 November 2022. CSD was represented by its division chief, Joanna Syjuco together with several members of their project management, and technical teams.
The main agenda of the said meeting was the presentation and introduction of the AI and Computer Vision projects of CSD, and to discuss possible points of collaboration between UPLB DEE and DOST-ASTI. One of the projects discussed was ASTI-Automated Labeling Machine (ASTI-ALaM) which is a component of the Philippine Sky Artificial Intelligence Porgram (SkAI Pinas). This project aims to develop an optimized workflow for developing machine learning models and an online model store for hosting the developed models for usage in different application domains1.
Present also in the meeting were DEE faculty members Asst. Prof. Melvin Ilang-Ilang, Asst. Prof. Kim Jay Rosano, Engr. Rob Christian Caduyac, Engr Paul Alexander Darvin, and Engr. Rock Christian Tomas. They were also joined by members of CSD’s project management, and technical teams namely: Jeffrey Aborot, Eduardo Piedad, Jr., Julius Noah Sempio, Jose Maria Braga, Daphne Padilla, and Niña Bagay.
