DEE Constituents recognized at CEAT’s Awards Night
As the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology celebrated its 111th Founding Anniversary, the Awards Night and Dinner for a Cause was held on February 22, 2023, at the Baker Hall. Among those given distinction were some members of the faculty and staff of the Department of Electrical Engineering, alongside DEE alumni recognized for their performance in the Registered Electrical Engineers (REE) Board Examination in 2022.
The 2023 CEAT Outstanding Junior Faculty Award was granted to Assistant Professor John Paolo A. Ramoso, who was also awarded the 2022 CEAT Distinguished Young Alumnus in Electrical Engineering last October 2022. He is an assistant professor in the department who established the first in-house research laboratory in DEE.
Aside from this award, the department’s loyalty awardees, Mr. Alberto R. Gutierrez and Mr. Rodolfo A. Ramos, were also recognized. Mr. Gutierrez, the department’s laboratory technician fondly known as Kuya Abet, was recognized for 40 years of service in the university. Mr. Ramos, on the other hand, known as Kuya Rudy, the department’s ever-reliable messenger and jack of all trades, was given an award for 20 years of service.
Four of DEE’s alumni were also given awards for their exemplary performance in the REE Board Examination. Two of them were topnotchers in the April 2022 REE board exam, Engr. Rob Christian M. Caduyac, who was the first in rank and is also currently an instructor in DEE, and Engr. Resborne P. Lomboy, 9th placer in the said exam. The other two awardees were topnotchers in the most recent REE Board Exam that took place in September 2022, Engr. Ryan Francis N. Alvar, who was the 4th placer, and Engr. Ymelson A. Llantino, the 7th in rank in the board exam.
The last batch of awards were granted to recipients of the One UP Faculty Grant, where Assistant Professor Rodolfo A. Aguirre, Jr. was given the One UP Faculty Grant Award in Power Engineering under the Outstanding Teaching and Research category.
Presenting the awards were CEAT Dean, Dr. Rossana Marie C. Amongo, Associate Dean, Dr. Marion Lux Y. Castro, and CEAT’s special guests, Engr. Pantaleon Ll Tabanao, President of CEAT Alumni Association and Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, Dr. Fernando O. Paras, Jr., presenting the awards on behalf of Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr.
