DEE initiates Collaboration with UPD-EEEI for DEE MSEE/MEEE Program

The Electrical Engineering Department’s Graduate Curricular Development and Review Committee (GCDRC), together with Asst. Prof. Roderick L. Catriz, current DEE Chair, held an initial consultation meeting with the Director of UP Diliman Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UPD-EEEI), Dr. Michael Angelo A. Pedrasa, and Dr. Maria Theresa de Leon, the EEEI Graduate Program Coordinator on September 8, 2021.

The collaboration with UPD-EEEI started in 2016, where DEE took part in EEEI’s offshore offering of Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (MEEE) Program where DEE accommodated students enrolled in EEEI who lived closer to UPLB. This option is considered once more as part of the transitioning from an offshore campus until DEE’s graduate program curriculum is approved and the department is already fully capable of offering the program. Highlights of the meeting included talks on the possible fields of specialization and courses to be incorporated in the program, considerations on technicalities of faculty appointments and other challenges that the department may have to prepare for. EEEI fully supports DEE in this endeavor and is willing to get their faculty on board in the early stages of the program. | Annie Pintor, 15 Sept 2021
