KAIST EE invited interested students to join their graduate program through the KAIST EE Visit Camp held last November 15 to 17, 2018 at KAIST EE, Daehak-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejon, South Korea. After the screening process, 81 delegates were chosen from six countries including China, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. Three of the Philippine delegates came from UPLB DEE, namely, Adriane Joshua J. Miras, a graduating student, along with two recent graduates, Rock Christian V. Tomas and Peter Je C. Dilao. Eight other Filipino delegates joined them, seven coming from UP Diliman and one affiliated with De La Salle University.
Three professors from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) School of Electrical Engineering visited UPLB-DEE with three other professors from the School of Computing on October 19, 2018. Among the KAIST EE professors were Professor Dong Eui Chang, Professor Minkyu JE and Professor Sang-Gug LEE, head of KAIST EE Graduate School. The visit started off with a talk with Electrical Engineering and Computer Science students at the Institute of Computer Science Megahall where the professors presented their respective graduate degree programs and research laboratories. Collaboration talks between UPLB DEE and KAIST EE followed hereafter at the Dean’s Office. The meeting was attended by our dean, Dr. Arnold R. Elepaño, associate dean, Dr. Myra G. Borines, EE department’s chairperson, aProf. Karen-Christian C. Agno and other DEE faculty members. A courtesy visit to the chancellor’s office, graced by the presence of the vice chancellor for Administration, Dr. Crisanto A. Dorado, marked the end of the visit. The guests were asked to sign the guestbook at the chancellor’s office before they left.

The said visit is part of KAIST EE’s efforts in promoting their graduate program to foreign students through close collaboration with its international partners. Initial collaboration talks started in May 2018 when the current DEE department chair, Assistant Professor Karen-Christian C. Agno and former department chair, Assistant Professor Annie Liza C. Pintor were invited to attend the EE KAIST Workshop with International Partners at the KAIST EE campus.
